LEAP UK’s podcast presents: Tom Wainwright (Narconomics), Ed Vulliamy, Juan Fernandez

21 November 2017
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (UK)

For this month’s free live recording of LEAP UK’s Stop and Search podcast (part of Scroobius Pip’s Distraction Pieces Network), us for a panel discussion on Latin America’s drug war, the human and financial costs, and how this impacts other countries. Joining Tom Wainwright will be Ed Vulliamy, journalist and writer for The Observer and The Guardian, who has covered Latin America and their ‘almost literal war on drugs’. Completing the panel will be Juan Fernandez Ochoa, a representative of the International Drug Policy Consortium (IDPC).

In Narconomics – described by The Washington Post as “the book that Sean Penn wanted to write” – Tom Wainwright meets everyone from coca farmers in secret Andean locations, deluded heads of state in presidential palaces, journalists with a price on their head, gang leaders who run their empires from dangerous prisons and teenage hitmen on city streets – all in search of the economic truth behind drug cartels.
