Launch of Youth RISE Nigeria!

11 December 2012

Following a sharp increase in drug use among young people in the region and the need for youth leadership in advocating for drug policy reform in the country, Youth RISE has formed a new organisation in Nigeria. The new organisation "Youth RISE Nigeria" will remain part of Youth RISE yet will legally operate as a separate organisation and will be coordinated by Adeolu Ogunrombi.

The initial role of Youth RISE Nigeria will be to engage in advocacy with policy makers and key stakeholders, to support and engage in capacity building activities supporting local community organisations and undertake research in the region to uncover a greater understanding of of the populations most at risk, risky behaviours associated with drug use and the drug harms faced by young people in the region.

Youth RISE Nigeria's office will be based with the "Civil society on health and right of vulnerable women and girls in Nigera" (CISHRWIN) in Abuja.
