Human rights challenges in addressing the world drug situation - OHCHR call for input

26 April 2023
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN agency on human rights, has issued a call for NGO inputs for its future report on human rights challenges in addressing the world drug situation.

This will be the first report on drug policy by OHCHR since 2018. It is an essential opportunity for the United Nations to document the human rights devastation brought about by the 'war on drugs', and to recommend changes. It will also be an essential input of the mid-term review of the 2019 Ministerial Declaration on drugs.

All NGOs are invited to submit inputs to the OHCHR by 21 May 2023, preferably in Word format, with a maximum of 1,500 words. They can be in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian or Spanish. They should be sent in Word format to registry[@]ohchr.org and nekane.lavin[@]un.org.

Please note that, unless requested otherwise, the information provided will be
made available for consultation on OHCHR’s website.
