Myanmar signs landmark agreement with United Nations to tackle drugs and crime

The agreement, which will last until 20147, followed a year of negotiations and was approved by President Thein Sein and his Cabinet on Monday, the UN agency said.
It covers a variety of areas, including transnational organised crime, anti-corruption, criminal justice, and providing alternative development for opium poppy farmers.
Since coming to power in 2011, President Thein Sein's quasi-civilian government has pushed reforms that have ended sanctions and overturned Myanmar's status as a global pariah.
