Employment opportunities for people who use drugs in Indonesia

Rumah Cemara provides their clients’ employment opportunities by giving microfinance grants to start the business. The idea to provide employment services was born when the organisation started thinking how to improve the quality of life of people using drugs, who often do not have good income. Most of the clients didn’t have higher education because of their background and it was more difficult for them to find a job.

Rumah Cemara was not able to provide them with money to cover their life costs which would not be a sustainable investment of the resources and instead “giving people a fish”, decided “to teach how to fish”.
