We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Africa regional civil society consultation in preparations for the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) Mid-term review in 2024. The consultation will take place on 7 November in a hybrid format in the margins of the African Union High-level conference on addressing substance use and related mental health disorders, which will be held in Lusaka, Zambia, from 08 to 10 November 2023.

You can join the consultation either online or in person, depending on your preference, availability and resources.

The CND Mid-term review is a process that aims to assess the implementation of the 2019 Ministerial Declaration on strengthening actions at the national, regional and international levels to accelerate the implementation of joint commitments to address and counter the world drug problem. The review will also identify challenges and gaps, as well as best practices and lessons learned, in order to inform future actions and strategies.

Please note that those wishing to participate in-person must fund themselves to cover all costs related to the meeting, such as travel, accommodation or internet access. You are encouraged to seek the support of your organization.

If you are interested in participating in this consultation, please fill out this online registration form by 14 October 2023. You will receive a confirmation email with further details and instructions on how to join the consultation.
