Despite a recent decrease globally in the number of people executed for drug offences, over 30 countries still retain the death penalty for drugs in law. Many more routinely violate the rights of people who use drugs through forced rehabilitation and torture.

This briefing will present the latest trends and developments in these areas and discuss ways forward to uphold the human rights of people who use drugs.
