International City Health Conference 2017
This is the sixth in the series of City Health conferences. It is hosted by the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland and organised by Knowledge-Action-Change.
The title for the conference, ‘Empowerment, Engagement and Partnership: participating to develop healthy cities’, reflects the belief that measures and actions for health promotion and urban development are more effective if the affected populations play an active and co-decisive role in the process of design, development and delivery.
The programme will examine how urban environments create both impediments, as well as opportunities, to encourage and support communities to contribute to developing health urban environments. This will include both policy responses and practical examples of work to achieve this. The programme will comprise plenary sessions, symposia, panel discussions and poster presentations.
It will also include the Alison Chesney and Eddie Killoran Memorial Lecture delivered by Madame Ruth Dreifuss, former President of Switzerland and Minister of Home Affairs and Commissioner of the Global Commission on Drug Policy.
