2013 Strategic National Conference on Mass Incarceration and the War on Drugs

TheWar on Drugs is considered a failure with over $1 trillion spent, millions imprisoned, and countless families wounded, increased in mental illnesses, unsecured communities and broken lives. In 1971, President Richard Nixon declared the War on Drugs. Since then, The United States has made over 45 million arrests with over 20 million Americans with felony records experiencing difficulties with employment and economic advancement.

Today, the United States has 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's incarcerated population. Approximately 7.5 million under correctional supervision with over 2.3 million incarcerated. Mass incarceration as a result of the War on Drugs is a humanitarian crisis. Join us as we talk solution and find alternatives to mass incarceration and the War on Drugs.
