European Union Action Plan 2013-2016
In December 2012. the European Council adopted the EU Drugs Strategy for 2013-2020. Subsequently,the Irish Presidency prepared a draft proposal for a new EU Action Plan on Drugs (2013-2016) which was finalised at the Horizontal Drugs Group meeting on 23 May 2013.
The Action Plan, like the EU Drugs Strategy, is based on the fundamental principles of EU law and it upholds the founding values of the Union - respect for human dignity, liverty, democracy, equality, solidarity, the rule of law and human rights.
The Plan sets out the Actions that will be implemented to achieve the objectives of the strategy in the areas of demand reduction, supply reduction, coordination, international cooperation, and information, research, monitoring and evaluation.
