The role of police in preventing and minimising illicit drug use and its harms in Australia
1 January 2004
The project sought to enhance the understanding of police as to how they could support the Australian National Drug Strategy in four specific areas. These were:
- preventing and minimising the impact of drug overdoses;
- encouraging safer illicit drug use practices;
- encouraging entry into treatment programs; and
- reducing the demand for illicit drugs (including those strategies aimed at reducing the uptake of illicit drugs).
