OrientaDonna & OrientaQueer – Turin, Italy

12 October 2026

Founded in 2006 as a pioneering gender-responsive project of L’Isola di Arran—a harm reduction association active in Turin since 1996—OrientaDonna operates in direct collaboration with the Addiction Department of the local public health authority (ASL Città di Torino). Located within the Drop-in centre at the Amedeo di Savoia Hospital, the project expanded its scope with OrientaQueer, a dedicated harm reduction space tailored specifically to the needs of LGBTQI+, trans, and non-binary people who use drugs.

Together, they provide a low-threshold, fully anonymous, and autonomous safe space reserved exclusively for women and queer individuals in active drug use or marginality. Through the peer-led, intersectional and full-spectrum harm reduction model, the team bridges primary healthcare, reproductive rights, emotional support, and self-care in an environment strictly free from male presence.
