Launch of the print edition of Spanish ‘Blueprint for Regulation’

11 December 2012

On the 20th November Mexico Unido Contra la Delincuencia launched the Spanish print version of ‘After the War on Drugs: Blueprint for Regulation’ with a new foreword by the former President of Colombia César Gaviria. The book was launched at the prestigious Club Industriales to a highly receptive audience of policy makers, business men, journalists, academics and influencers. The event included presentations from both Transform and MUCD representatives and Sergio Sarmiento, Editor of TV Azteca (the second largest TV network in Mexico).

The book can be downloaded here.

The launch was followed by a private, ‘off the record’ dinner for key policy makers and the business sector to discuss drug policy reform and how to take the issue forward.

Workshop Latin American ‘Tools for the Debate’

They also held a two day workshop for NGO drug policy experts from across Latin America to input into our forthcoming Latin American version of ‘Tools for the Debate’ which shows how to argue for drug regulation (the English version is available here).

The high-level discussions highlighted a number of new sections to add to the new book, and issues to address, to help maximise its utility for campaigners and people arguing the case for regulation in Latin America. We will be pursuing an ongoing process of consultation and peer review over the coming months, and plan to launch the new book by the middle of 2013.

The workshop was attended by the following participants:
