Launch of the 2021 Commission on Narcotic Drugs - Report of Proceedings

12 July 2021

In many ways, the 64th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs was far from typical. Marked by its hybrid format, the 60th anniversary of the treaty regime, and highly contentious debates about the substance and future of international drug policy, there is plenty to be unpicked and distilled from this annual forum.

Join us, on Thursday, 29 July, at 15:00 (London), for an informal discussion, streamed on IDPC’s Facebook page, between civil society advocates on the occasion of the launch of IDPC’s 2021 CND Report of Proceedings.

The conversation will highlight key takeaways from the report as well as shed light on the burning issues that structured the Session’s debates, achievements and missed opportunities in this year’s adopted resolutions, and outlooks for civil society participation in the coming years.

Panellists:

  • Róisín Downes (Global Program Coordinator. SSDP).
  • Zara Snapp (Director, Instituto RIA, Mexico).
  • Jamie Bridge (Chief Operating Officer, IDPC)

Moderated by: Maria-Goretti Ane (IDPC Consultant: Africa)
