The A-Debate: U-Turn on addictions - Biological and social sciences to reframe drug policy

The A-Debate is an on-site and on-line event aimed at presenting and discussing key research findings coming out of the ALICE RAP project, their policy implications and the science with the greatest potential to contribute to smart and evidence-based global drugs policy. The event will be attended (either in person or remotely via online video-streaming and a communication interface) by high-level scientists, policy actors from national and international organisations, clinical professionals and expert civil society actors, and is expected to shape the messages from multidisciplinary addiction science for drug policy influencers and implementers.

Discussions will be stimulated by short scientific presentations on key topics around two broad pillars:

"The scientific basis for a U-turn on addictions" - presenting and discussing the latest evidence and knowledge on drug use, harms and mechanisms.

"U-turning in the mosaic of time and place" - examining policy and programme options, prevention and treatment, to mitigate the harm caused by addictive products.
