IDPC Board welcomes two new members and bids a fond farewell to Rupert Markland
The IDPC Board is delighted to welcome two new Directors: Mac Busz and Alex Lamb Guevara.
Mac Busz joined the Board in February, and brings a wealth of experience in the field of harm reduction and drug policy. Before her current role at the City of Amsterdam as an advisor on homelessness, she was the Director of one of the world’s oldest harm reduction organisations, Mainline, where she worked from 2012 to 2025. She also founded the Poppi Drugs Museum in Amsterdam and continues to devote time to this innovative and creative initiative.
Alex Lamb Guevara is an Anglo-Colombian feminist with over 20 years of experience working with social movements in local, national and international HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights programming. Prior to her current role in Resource Mobilisation at the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), Alex served as Programmes Director at Fundación Si Mujer in Cali, Colombia - a feminist abortion provider and educator, working on access to abortion, gender-based violence and challenging gender norms among adolescents and communities in rural and conflict-affected regions.Alex has also worked at RedTraSex (the Latin American and Caribbean Sex Worker Network) and at the International HIV/AIDS Alliance (now known as Frontline AIDS).
The Board and Secretariat also wish to give a heartfelt thanks to Rupert Markland, who stepped down from the Board in 2025 after serving an extended term of seven years. Rupert served as Chair of the Board’s Finance and Resources Committee for most of that time, and was also Chair of Stichting IDPC in the Netherlands. IDPC is indebted to him for his many years of active, wise and insightful engagement, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours!
For the first time in three years, the entire Board of Directors will be meeting face-to-face in Amsterdam in July 2026 and are looking forward to welcoming our two new Directors in person for a dynamic and forward-looking discussion towards shaping the next exciting phase of IDPC.
