INCB Watch: Board visits the Republic of Argentina

14 June 2016

Between 31st May and 03rd June 2016, the INCB conducted a country visit to Argentina, led by Professor Francisco Thoumi. The object of the visit was to review developments in the country’s drug control arrangements. More broadly, the INCB is responsible for monitoring governments’ compliance with the three international drug control conventions.

Professor Thoumi, accompanied by Mr Stefano Berterame of the Secretariat, undertook consultations with senior officials at the Ministries of Security, Justice and Foreign Affairs, in addition to meetings with the country’s drug control agency. INCB visited a treatment centre at a federal prison complex, and a community-based therapeutic centre.

The Board will review findings from the visit at its November 2016 Session.
