Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda ordered local chief executives to draw up fresh strategies in the campaign against illegal drugs even as the provincial board allocated some P15 million to purchase more equipment, including guns and ammunition, for the police.
“Kailangan mag-isip kayo ng paraan para labanan ang droga (You need to think of ways to fight drugs),” Pineda said at a meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council Wednesday even as she stressed the need to involve communities and all sectors in the campaign.
Of the province’ 505 barangays, 207 are affected by illegal drugs, statistics from the provincial police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency office in Region 3 showed.
