How to use the IDPC Drug Policy Guide to fit Mexican realities

20 September 2010

On 14th September 2010, Juan Machín (CAFAC) and Jorge Hernández Tinajero (CuPIHD), in collaboration with Dr. Luis Astorga (Institute of Social Investigations, Autonomous National University of Mexico), presented the IDPC Drug Policy Guide.

The session was widely attended by undergraduate, graduate and PhD students interested in drug-related issues in Mexico, as well as researchers from the Institute and other individuals interested in the drug policy debate. The dialogue introduced the principles of the Guide, and sparked interesting discussions on how to implement them to the Mexican reality. The session focused on reducing violence and the human rights violations associated with the war on drugs in Mexico, as well as the necessity to design and implement better mechanisms to evaluate drug policy in the country.
