Up to now, debates about drug policy and sustainable development have occurred largely on separate tracks. As the United Nations prepares for the General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on the World Drug Problem in 2016, it will be important to understand how these two policy areas intersect.

To what extent are the world drug problem and poverty related? And to what extent is the current drug regime compatible with the SDGs? To what extent is it not? How can these agendas be linked so that they can reinforce and not undermine each other? Panelists reflected on these questions and more at this policy forum in New York City.
