The International AIDS Society (IAS) and the U.S. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) announce a new round of their joint research fellowships to advance the scientific understanding of drug use and HIV. The 2013 IAS-NIDA fellowship programme will be open from 8 December 2012 to 10 February 2013. The goal of this fellowship programme is to contribute to advances in the scientific understanding of drug use and HIV while fostering multinational research.

The IAS-NIDA fellowship programme consists of two types of awards for training: US$75,000 to be awarded to a junior scientist for 18-months post-doctoral training and US$75,000 to be awarded to a well-established HIV researcher for eight-month long professional development training, both at leading institutes excelling in research in the HIV-related drug use field. Applications from a wide range of disciplines including social, behavioral, political, clinical, biomedical, mathematical sciences or others will be accepted.

Fellows will be selected by mid-April 2013, and will be invited to the 7th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2013), which will be held from 30 June– 3 July 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The fellowships will be officially awarded at the conference, and there will be additional activities planned for fellows at the conference.
