Resolution on improving access to HIV-related services in Kazakhstan

On 21-22 January 2015, in Astana (Kazakhstan) a consultative high-level meeting "Improving access to services for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support for people who inject drugs".

The event was organized by the UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Europe and Central Asia and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The aim of the meeting was to discuss with the key partners the progress, barriers and ways to improve access to services for people who inject drugs (PWID).

The consultative meeting resulted in adopting a resolution covering the registration of the opioid substitution therapy (OST) medication, creation and implementation of an electronic patients’ register and the need to develop a standard for OST.
