“Women against Violence” campaign received vivid discussions at the 2nd International Conference on Law Enforcement and Public Health

On October 5-8, 2014, the 2nd International Conference on Law Enforcement and Public Health (LEPH) took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The event was organized byMelbourne Centre for Law Enforcement and Public Health andInstitute at VU University Amsterdam in partnership with Dutch Police and Public Health Service of Amsterdam (GGD Amsterdam), and it brought together around 300 police officers, public health practitioners, academics and policy makers to examine, review, assess, share and learn from each other how to best build effective law enforcement and public health partnerships.

Within the framework of the conference Eurasian Harm Reduction Network (EHRN) together with The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) held an informal session “The law enforcement and civil society partnership in combating violence against women who use drugs“. The session was aimed at presenting regional advocacy campaign “Women against Violence“ and its results in Moldova, one of the partner countries, as well as at discussing with the session participants such as representatives of civil society, law enforcement from Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, UNODC and international donors possible solutions in addressing police violence against women who use drugs.
