Latin American advocacy fellowship on drug policy reform

3 April 2013

The Global Drug Policy and Latin America programs at the Open Society Foundations are proud to announce the Latin American Advocacy Fellowship Program on Drug Policy Reform. The first phase will be hosted by Release, the UK’s center of expertise on drugs and drugs law.

This program supports those working in sectors related to drug policy in order to improve their advocacy skills and enhance their ability to deal with the media when addressing drug policy issues. It seeks to add to the core group of existing high-profile drug policy activists in the Latin American region, including among persons not necessarily working full-time on drug issues.

The program includes the following topics:

  • Global overview of drug policy reform
  • Overarching issues relevant to drug policy reform
  • International drug control system
  • Overview of international human rights in the context of drug policy
  • Drug policy developments in Latin America
  • Effective campaigning
  • Media and public engagement
