Free hepatitis C treatment for people who use drugs in prison in Montenegro

People suffering from Hepatitis C were not available to access treatment in prison Spuž in Montenegro.

At the initiative of NGO 4 Life, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and the support of Action for Human rights, two meetings were organised in March and April 2012.

During the second meeting which took place on 19th April 2012, the Assistant Minister of Health of Montenegro Mr. Mensud Grbovic, said it had reached an agreement to allocate funding to hepatitis C treatment in prison. He said that from now on, prisoners will immediately be able to report to the Infectious Diseases Clinic to access hepatitis C treatment. Click here for more information.
