DrugScope Senior Policy Officer

11 June 2012

DrugScope is seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer to influence policy and practice at a critical time for the drug and alcohol sector. DrugScope incorporates the London Drug and Alcohol Network (LDAN), the membership body for drug and alcohol services in the capital

Working closely with the Director of Policy and Membership and DrugScope’s policy officer, you will take lead responsibility for our LDAN work and specific policy themes. You must be passionate about improving outcomes for all those affected by drug and alcohol problems. You will need excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to analyse and respond to sometimes complex policy and research documents and to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

While experience of the drug or alcohol sector and knowledge of drugs and related issues are not essential, the ability to learn about and understand issues and developments in practice and policy affecting our membership will be necessary.

Working primarily as a second tier organisation DrugScope speaks for our members and other stakeholders in drug and alcohol treatment, education, prevention, criminal justice and other areas; we provide quality information about drugs; promote effective responses to drug use; advise on policy making and good practice; and inform public and media awareness and understanding of the issues.
