In 2016, a Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGASS) will be held on the topic of drugs. This follows the previous Special Sessions held in 1998 and 2009, and comes at a time when the ineffectiveness of current drug policies is being hotly debated in many parts of the world, and a number of countries and territories have adopted new and innovative arrangements for regulating cannabis.
IDPC draws lessons from a series of interviews with the civil society representatives and provides guidance and recommendations to further strengthen meaningful NGO participation in global drug control debates.
It has been a highly eventful and busy year for IDPC, not least because of UNGASS 2016. We hope that you will enjoy reading this latest progress report that gives an overview of our activities and key achievements during the period April 2015 to March 2016.
