Guidelines for debate: What is harm reduction?

Every day it is becoming clearer and there is more of a consensus about harm reduction as the best strategy to minimize and prevent the negative impacts associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances, whether it is on the individual level or in a social context at a small or large scale, this philosophy achieves a body of beneficial results of a much greater proportion than those we've seen from other models or strategies and this is becoming more and more evident globally.

In this edition of Guidelines for debate (GPD), Brun González explains how this way of helping and providing practical tools for users through an objective awareness of their use or by means of the reorientation of strategies and public policies. Along with this, he provides a series of group exercises where a better understanding of the concept and everything it encompasses can be built collectively so that more people can get involved and help the situation around psychoactives may become less risky and harmful to all.
