PILnet: The Global Network for Public Interest Law is seeking nominations for the second annual European Award for Partnership in the Public Interest, which will recognize the best pro bono legal project (or projects) undertaken jointly between a non-governmental organization and a law firm in Europe.

Nominations for the award should consist of a narrative no longer than two pages describing projects that have achieved positive results in at least one European country and were completed in the 12 months prior to September 2012. Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • The degree to which the project(s) demonstrates a significant, positive impact on the protection of rights and/or delivery of justice through legal representation or reform of law and policy.
  • The extent of legal resources and other forms of lawyer/law firm engagement that were deployed through the project(s).
  • The degree to which the work fostered a deep relationship between the NGO and the lawyers/law firm and created prospects for future collaboration of a durable nature.

PILnet will accept nominations until 10 September 2012. The award will be bestowed on 26 October 2012 during the closing session of the 2012 European Pro Bono Forum in Madrid. PILnet's prestigious European Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Development of Pro Bono Culture will also be announced at that time.
