Is Thailand ready for drug policy reform?

5 September 2016

This video was shown before the opening of the conference “Integrated Constructive (Meth) Amphetamine Control and Innovative Justice in Draft Narcotics Code” held on 29 – 30 August 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand. The video was compiled by the Inspire Project, under the administration of Thailand’s Ministry of Justice. The conference was intended to facilitate a dialogue about concrete next steps for Thailand to move from a punitive to health-based response to drug use, especially methamphetamine (one of the most highly used and widely available drugs in the country), as well as to develop more proportionate sentencing responses for drug offences in order to address the severe prison overcrowding problem in Thailand (where the majority of people in prison are held for drug offences).
