The Global Fund launches new technical assistance programme for civil society organisations

5 August 2014

As part of its on-going efforts to ensure the meaningful engagement of civil society and affected populations in its work, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has launched a new “Community, Rights and Gender Technical Assistance Program”. Through this programme, national-level civil society networks and organisations, networks of key populations, and Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) can request bespoke support, advice and training to help them engage with the Global Fund processes in their country.

The program is one of a number of special initiatives aimed at strengthening community and civil society engagement in countries that are eligible for Global Fund support. In particular, technical assistance is being offered for situational analyses and needs assessments, translating Global Fund documents into local languages, assessments of legal environments, community engagement in the “country dialogue” process, training on effective advocacy, and supporting programme design – among other things.

The technical assistance is being provided by a number of specialist civil society and key population networks and organisations – who were selected by the Global Fund following an open tender process. The documents below describe the programme in further detail, and additional queries can be sent to CRGTA@theglobalfund.org.
