IDPC was set up in 2007 following a meeting of NGOs in London hosted by the Beckley Foundation. The meeting identified the need for a global communication and advocacy structure in the area of drug policy. Since its inception, the Consortium has grown to 100 members worldwide.
The implementation of the IDPC work plan is overseen by a Steering Group made up of eleven representatives from IDPC Partner Members with geographic representation from the regions where we work. The Steering Group oversee the delivery of the IDPC work plan and contribute to making key strategic decisions with the management of IDPC. The Chair of IDPC is Mike Trace.
IDPC also has a Board of Directors which is responsible for the operational and financial management of the Consortium.
IDPC has shared offices the UK-based charity, Release, since the 1st April 2008. This relationship has been key to the set up of a sustainable structure for the Consortium.
